Rune Mattock , has no upgrade variant level 50 Smithing is required. Rune mattock is a rune tool for carefully uncovering and excavating artefacts and can be added into tool-belt or removed by selecting and clicking on the inventory backpack to access tool-belt menu options.

Level 50 in Archaeology skill to wield in hand and restricted from adding into tool-belt if the same is not meet for requirement. Rune Mattock can be bought at Varrock Dig Site Archaeology Guild from Matty Ock.

Free-to-Play Limited Subscription Access

Rune Mattock can be added to the tool-belt in free-to-play but cannot be used for excavation unless the player has established membership to unlock restrict functionality purposes and use as intended. However, this making Rune mattock pretty useless in free-to-play.
